Understanding Neighbors
Understanding Neighbors is a comprehensive program rooted in mutual respect and principles of language equity. Composed of activities, classes and events, Understanding Neighbors connects newcomers and English language learners and the broader welcoming community.
Volunteers are trained and equipped by Project Worthmore staff to create the best environment to nurture these developing friendships.
Goal
To facilitate friendships, provide a sense of inclusion and inspire cross-cultural understanding.
The Roots Family Language Library
As part of Understanding Neighbors, The Roots Family Language Library (TRFLL) brings multilingual books and materials to The Roots, creating a space for language learning, literacy, and connection. The library includes 1,000+ books in 75+ languages, with a special focus on bilingual materials and books written in the home languages of our refugee and newcomer community.
Help Refugees Feel Welcomed
