This is Success
This is Success: Manal Gadallah
Manal is from South Sudan, a country where women face incredible challenges. She came here as a refugee, and faced another set of challenges. As a single mother of two wonderful boys, she makes the choice every day to fight to live her best life and offer the same for her kids. Sometimes, the choice to seek support is difficult, and sometimes, the choice to seek support empowers us and helps us to become successful and make new friends, who then become a part of our family. She worked with our navigator team to ensure that she would be on the best track to success.
Manal has built a home for her family and a career as an educator, choosing empowerment and courage. We are our choices.
Success is making the best choices for our lives.
This is Success: Freshta Sherzad
Athlete, fighter, medical professional.
Freshta came to PWM directly from the evacuation of Kabul. As a professional female athlete, her life was in danger. She went from being a client to a valued member of our dental clinic staff in just few months, and day by day, her English, skills, and life improved.
No doubt, this was due to her dedication and hard work.
During her lunch breaks, we would see her at the picnic tables outside of our office, working with volunteers to improve her English. Even though she had to leave all her family, she found a community at her Muay ThaiĀ gym, and here at our organization. She smiles widely when we ask her about success, and she says thank you. This is by no means a misunderstanding.
We all feel this deep gratitude for people stepping up to help us. Being able to express that gratitude in a language that you learned in under a year… that is success.
Success is being able to say thank you.
